Our approach with Eskenazi Health was rooted in the expertise of interdisciplinary teams, combining core competencies in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), community engagement, and inclusive placemaking. Our methods employed data-driven and community-embraced strategies, emphasizing the importance of creating a sense of belonging for all community members.
We crafted a tailored Health Equity Zone Plan with a comprehensive engagement strategy, collaborating closely with community entities. Our eight engagement tactics, adapted for each neighborhood, included the Community Ambassador Program, Community Wide Events, Focus Groups, Surveys, Attending Existing Events/Community Partnerships, Stakeholder Interviews, Public Meetings, and Steering Committee Meetings. Customization considered unique demographics and language/access needs, incorporating translation services and community organizations for inclusivity. Notably, the Community Ambassador Program involved residents actively engaging with the community, attending events, sharing surveys, and conducting interviews.
To gather diverse feedback, we utilized focus groups, surveys, and community events, providing stipends and support. Leveraging existing events and collaborations, we engaged with communities where they are, fostering trust.
The communication plan involved creating an accessible website with regular updates. Our design prioritized responsiveness and accessibility, following phases of discovery, content development, design, testing, and launch, including CMS training.
COVID AFTER ACTION PROJECT

Engaging Solutions delivered DEI support services as part of a comprehensive COVID After Action Project, to enhance stakeholder engagement across Central Indiana and beyond in the human services sector. The project dissected the successes, challenges, lessons learned, and future-readiness in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a strong focus on integrating DEI principles as a cornerstone of national importance. This involved conducting detailed reviews, interviews, and survey methodologies, and developing strategies based on key findings from stakeholder engagement. Engaging Solutions’ role included facilitating numerous focus groups, interviews with leaders and clients, and conducting a comprehensive analysis to shape a stakeholder engagement report that underscored executive summaries, key findings, and data themes by demographic areas, alongside strategic recommendations.
